News - Press Releases - Rose City a Survivor continued
"Going with this system was a matter of absolute
survival," said Chuck Parsons, Rose City's President. "Many other small, independent
companies in the industry are failing because their information systems are so poor.
We're not a large-scale operation. Long run, repetitive jobs are rare for us. Some of our
jobs repeat quarterly, but for the most part we work with our customers on promotional projects
or those jobs with unique manufacturing requirements. The special jobs with short lead times that's
what we do best."
"We knew that in order to survive," Parsons continued, "we would have to
improve our information systems and use it to capture information that would keep us on a profitable track.
In addition, we were also going through an organizational design change, going from an owner-operator type
of business to one run by a management team. We needed a system to help us make sound management decisions."
Finding the right software system proved to be another challenge for Rose City.
"This was our thirst attempt at finding the right software product," said Steve Lobis, Rose City's Director of
Operations. "The first two we tried were better suited to other types of printing businesses. They did not provide
us with an integrated solution for our folding carton business. We were frustrated but decided to give it one more
shot, and that's when we discovered Amtech. The selling point was that their system allowed us the flexibility to
adapt it to our exact operation, something no other product before had been able to do."
