GOING PAPERLESS SPURS IMPROVED CUSTOMER SERVICE
| Albert Lea, Minnesota is far from Pitcairn Island in the South Seas,
but there were times lately when Tom Krebsbach, Plant Manager at
Minnesota Corrugated, felt that he was being perceived at the sheet
plant as Captain Bligh. |
 |
"When I told the folks in our plant that our
goal was to go paperless, I almost faced my own `Mutiny on the Bounty,"'
Krebsbach recalls with a laugh. Now, with the paperless system firmly
in place, said to be the first such system in a sheet plant, opinions
have fortunately shifted. As Systems Administrator Mark Halbach notes,
"The waves have been smoothed over." More specifically, Krebsbach notes
that one long-time customer |
| service employee recently told him, "If I had known it was going to make my job that much easier, I would have been for
it immediately." |
Old habits die hard. Minnesota Corrugated has partnered with Bensalem,
Pennsylvania based Amtech, a software supplier, on this journey to paperless.
"Amtech has been our software vendor since 1996, but for the first year
we were not using every module. The more we visited with them, the more
we utilized their software," says Halbach. Once all the pieces were in
place, everyone came on board.
